Image Details

Descripción: Lichen found close to Corredor Sanctuary, Llinars del Valles, Barcelona, on the 10th February 2007. 600 meters altitude, on Quercus suber.

It is a lichen with worldwide distribution, mainly close to the seaside. In Catalonia, it has been found from Prades Mountains to the Aiguamolls del Empordà, all around the littoral range of mountains.

Foliose thallus loosely attached, from grey to green colour. The thallus is very like that of Parmotrema chinenese (=Parmelia perlata), large, up to 12 cms. Lobes large up to 1,5 cms. It is distinguished by the green-grey isidia in patches at the margin of the lobes. It has black cilia easily seen at the lobe's margin. The isidia have either ciylinder or globose form.

Medulla K+ yellow-orange, C-, KC+ yellow-orange, P+ yellow-orange.

It likes very unpolluted areas.

Very goog

This is a difficult picture. The difference between bright and dark areas is very high, but you obtained a very accurate photo. Congratulations.

Very interesting explanation.
