Descripción: | Picture taken on horizontal shalty hard rocks, 28th January 2007, Montseny, close to Santa Fe, Barcelona, 800 meters altitude. A very common lichen on acidic rocks and walls, churchyards, cemeteries. In Catalonia from the Mediterranean seaside to the Pyrenees. Very common at 1000 m. altitude. Mentioned from Maresma to Cap de Creus, Montseny, Pyrenees. It forms part of the "Pertusarietum rupicolae" association defined by Poelt and Llimona. Saxicolous, crustose lichen, on hard siliceous rocks,covering large surfaces. Often the thalli growing together to form mosaics. Thallus with areoles, cracked, thick, whitish-grey. Apothecia numerous, 0,5-2 mms, immersed or slightly rised, disc flat or convex, from white-ochre, to brown or even blackish, covered with a white pruina. Thallus areoles K+ yellow, C-, P+ bright yellow. Apothecial pruina C+ yellow, KC+ yellow-orange, P- Atranorine, chloratranorine, lecanoric acid, norstictic acid, and planty of them.
