Cosmopolite, Holarctic, it has been found in Catalonia at Maresma and Montseny, in misty places, saxicolous, silicious. Crustose, thallus from grey to brown-grey, areolate, warted, uneven, thick, without pruina. Apothecia frequent, partially immersed,urceolate, concave disc, black, pruinose, up to 2 mms in diameter,double margin, protruding.
