Common lichen in temperate climates not far from the sea, resisting in not very cold zones. It prefers the mediterranean area and the Atlantic coast clomate. Very common in Catalonia in the littoral and prelittoral range of mountains, mainly on Quercus suber.
Cortocolous, fruticous lichen, thallus with reen colour, 5-15 cms long, but generally small, not very branched, lacinia flutted and channelled, thallus with pseudocyphella, apothecia frequent at angles of the lacinia, not all at the end.
