Picture taken on the 10th March 2007 at the nearby of Corredor Sanctuary, Llinars del Vallés, Barcelona, on Quercus suber, 400 m. altitude.
Lichen common in temperate areas, mainly near the mediterranean and Atlantic coast.
In Catalonia it is common in the littoral range of mountains, not far from the sea.
Fruticose lichen, corticolous, with void internal areas in the lacinia, stripped cortex places from where soralia appear, yellow-green colour, deformed, irregular, contorted. No apothecia seen, very rare.
No chemical spot reactions.
Divaricatic acid. I have not checked with TLC the presence of burgueanic acid to distinguish it from Ramalina lacera. However, Ramalina lacera has only been mentioned at Cadiz and Balearic Islands ?. In any case, I´m not in favour of new species based only on chemiotypes.
