Picture taken at Santa Fe Montseny, Barcelona, in a Fagus sylvatica forest in a shady and very wet place close to a river, 1.300 m. altitude.
It is the most common of the Peltigera and easy to recognize due to the presence of isidia and the tomentose upper part of the thallus.Distributed from the boreal countries to the Mediterranean area, always in shady places. It is common in Catalonia.
Foliose lichen, on soil and mossy places. Thallus big, more than 20 cms in diameter, big lobes, up to 3 cms wide, upper part brown-grey, tomentous, with cylindrical isidia near the border of lobes. Below, it is brown-clear, brown veins, white rhizina, long, single, thin.
