Picture taken at Targasonne, Alta Cerdanya, Oriental Pyrenees, on granitic rock, flat surface, South oriented, 1.550 m. altitude, a very sunny place, but with water-tracks, very nitrous due to the presence of birds,near the village.
Lichen common on silicious rocks, in water-tracks areas. This lichen although it is considered as Mediterranean it grows well at Cerdanya. In Catalonia, it has been found from the sea at Maresma mountains, to the uplands, Monteny, Olot, and Aiguestortes.
Saxicolous, siliceous, crustose lichen, thallus small, up to 6 cms, warty, areolate, thick, with big apothecia, black, large, some up to 2 mms in diameter.
