Descripción: | Picture taken on the 9th April 2007 at "Gorges du Segre" , Llo, near Sallagousse, Oriental Pyrenees,France, an incredible place for lichens, East exposure, on siliceous rock, very rich in iron, water-track, 75 º rock inclination, very high sociability, 1.380 m. altitude. Common species in the Northern hemisphere and in France in upland places, more than 1.200 m. altitude, always linked to very rich iron siliceous rocks. Species new for Catalonia, assuming "Northern Catalonia" as part of the target study. Saxicolous, siliceous, crustose lichen, thallus of a very beautiful iron-red, squamulous, very small (0,3-2 mms), size of the thallus max. 7 cms, although very social , forming large colonies, thallus areolate, almost flat, margin with very small lobes. Apothecia frequently pointed (0,1-0,2 mms), disc brown, without thalline margin, 2-5 apothecia per squamula, some are sterile. No chemical spot reactions.
