Descripción: | Picture taken on the 9th April 2007, at "Gorges du Segre" near Bains de Llo, Llo, Oriental Pyrenees, France, on siliceous rock, very rich in iron, West exposure, vertical surface 90º, water-track, 1.380 m. altitude, associated to Acarospora sinoptica. Very scarce lichen, related to iron rich siliceous rocks. Not mentioned in the Catalan Check-list and mentioned only two times in the Spanish Checklist by Dr. Etayo and Dr. X. Llimona et alter in Collectanea Botanica. Saxicolous, on siliceous rocks, crustose lichen, granular thallus, areolate, from yellow-green to dark green, a clean black prothallus, a lot of soredia of the same colour forming in certain places like a sorediate crust. Apothecia rare, it took me time to find a fertile species, up to 2 mms in diameter, disc from green to brown, thallin margin persistent, flexuose and crenulate. See Stridvall´s Lichen Gallery pictures to compare differences of colour in the apothecia. Armand Tomás Vidal Nikon Coolpix 4.500 Autoeye, PH and HTLM Editor Chemical spot reactions negative |
