Descripción: | Picture taken on 9th April 2007 at "Gorges du Segre" near Bains de Llo, Llo, Oriental Pyrenees, France, Catalonia, on metamorphic schists, siliceous rock, East oriented, 85 º inclination, shady place, water-track, iron metal-rich area, 1380 m. altitude. Incredible size, up to 20 cms wide ¡¡¡. If edible, there is for one meal. Holarctic distribution, alpine and subalpine stages, Northern part of Spain. In Catalonia, it was found by Dr. Nestor Hladun at Montseny. Saxicolous, siliceous, foliose thallus, fixed by a central point.Very black rhizina at the underside. Apothecia not very numerous, 1-1,5 mm in diameter, black disc. Some thallus in dry conditions look like areolate. Thallus K-,C-,KC- It is worth to preserve those species. It is not acceptable to pick them up, may be, they could be the future natural attraction of Llo. News ¡¡¡. A new wonderful lichens´web page by Dr. Nestor Hladun (Barcelona University).
