Picture tahen on the 7th April 2007 at Targasonne, Alta Cerdanya, Oriental Pyrenees, France, Catalonia, on the top of granite boulder, siliceous rock, flat surface, sunny place, bird droppings, 1650 m. altitude, with Rhizoplaca chrysoleuca and Candelariella vitelina.
It is a ornitocoprophilous lichen easy to find upland in the Pyrenees (Aigues Tortes, Cerdanya, etc.).
Squamulous thallus, from green to brown, thick, lecanorine apothecia, disc from green to black, the colour of the thallus can become very dark.
Cortex K-
Rhizocarpon geminatum is common at Cerdanya, mentioned by Dr. Javier Etayo at Panticosa (Huesca).
