Picture taken on the 6th April 2007 near Fontromeu, Oriental Pyrenees, France on a granite boulder, inclinate surface, nitrophilous place, inside a Pinus uncinata forest, 1.700 m. altitude.
Common lichen in upland areas, frequent in the Pyrenees and in Europe, normally at more than 1000 m. altitude.
Crustose lichen, siliceous, colour very variable. Clauzade and Ozenda indicate that the colour can be white, grey or brown. Numerous lecanorine apothecia, big, black disc, without pruina.
