Picture taken on the 29th April 2007 at Vall de Galbe, Esposouilles, near Formigueres, Oriental Pyrenees, France, on the top of a rock, splashed periodically by water,seepage track, 1900 m. altitude.
Circumpolar,uplands in damp places. Uncommon, only mentioned once at Catalonia By Dr. N.Hladun at Montseny.
Saxicolous, filamentous, thallus dark gren to black, very variable, relativelly soft, filaments very divided, normally in a dichotomous way.
It differs from Pseudephebe pubescens by its softer texture. Pseudoephebe pubescens is a ornitocoprophilous lichen and Ephebe lanata is an almost hidrophilous lichen.
