Picture taken near Mirador close to Can Penyacans, Santa Fe Montseny, Barcelona, on metamorphic schists, siliceous rock, South orientation, 90 º, 1.400 m. altitude.
Relatively common lichen,upland areas
, mentioned for the first time in Catalonia. It is already mentioned in the rest of Spain by some active lichenologists, Drs. J. Etayo, A.Terrón and Eva Barreno.
Saxicolous, siliceous, thallus with variable colour, grey-brown, cracked-areolate forming angular plates, smooth, with a very eveident black prothallus. Apothecia brown-black, 0,6-1 mm in diameter, with a thin proper margin that can desappear when maturing.
