Descripción: | Picture taken on the 1st July 2007 on the way from Aiguablava Parador to the beach, Girona, Catalonia, on siliceous rocks, vertical position, low cushions, Nord oriented, 20 m. altitude. Lichen ombrophilous, growing close the sea. The fertile habitus was called before Ramalina mediterranea. Currently, this name is a sinonomy. This lichen has been found at Albera' s coast and Cap de Creus coast by Dr. Xavier Llimona Llimona, X (1995) Contribució a l'estudi de la biodiversitat de la península del Cap de Creus i Serra de Verdera. Els líquens. In Masdevall, J.M., Miquel, A & Musquerea, S (Dirs). Inst. Est. Empordanesos. It is not mentioned at Illes Medes but it appears just below the Aiguablava Parador. Probably, it is frequent in the Northern part of Catalonia in non extremely termophilous places, like small Isles. However, Dr. Xavier Llimona mentions it in Menorca (Historia Natural dels Països Catalans). Good illustrations in: Historia Natural dels Països Catalans ,Fongs i Líquens, pag. 386. V. Wirth et alter (2004) Líquenes, Musgos y hepáticas. Edit. Omega, pag 48. Saxicolous,on siliceous rocks, close the sea, North of Catalonia, it is substituted in the Valencian Community by Ramalina rosacea. Fruticose lichen, forming dense cushions, non always fertile, lacinia full, not clearly reticulate as in R. rosacea and without clear red zones, not sorediate, not very tall, maximum 2 cms.
