Descripción: | Picture taken on the 7th July 2007 at Cap de la Barra, Estartit, Torroella de Montgrí, Catalonia, on soil, among calcareous rocks, flat surface, very exposed, 40 m. altitude, close to the sea. Lichen not very common in Catalonia. Mentioned by Drs. Llimona, Hladun and Gómez at the Medes Isles, and by Dr. M.M. Barbero at Maresma. Barbero, M.M. (1998) Estudio florístico y quimiotaxonómico de los líquenes del Maresme, Tesis Doctoral, Universidad de Barcelona. It prefers calcareous rocks. The squamules are more convex than in Toninia sedifolia, present in the same area . It is very similar to Toninia alutea but this species lives upland and it has longuer spores. Saxicolous, epilithic, thermophilous, convex squamules from pale blue to grey and almost black in certain places. Apothecia with no pruina, between the squamules.
