Picture taken on the 4th November 2007 at Fontromeu, on a mixed forest of Larix decidua and Pinus uncinata. Very humid and clean air. 1.600 m. altitude, Oriental Pyrenees, France.
Fruticose lichen, thallus pendent, 3-15 cm long, branched, from green-grey to pale brown, not dark brown (then probably Bryoria fuscescens)m dense tuft, branches with round section, frequent soralia. More slender habit than B. fuscescens.
Spot reactions different in both species. B. capillaris gives the following reactions: Thallus, K+ bright yellow, C +- red (quickly disappearing), KC + red, P+ yellow-orange.
