Picture taken on the 25th May 2007 near Masella sky station, close the road, on soil, calcareous rock, 1.200 m. altitude aprox.
Old specimens, with big podetia look different from the young ones. The appearence is very siimilar to C. pyxidata but certain basal squamules are very adpressed to soil, and young podetia are different.
Fumarprotocetraric acid is also present in C. pyxida.
Clauzade and Roux consider this species as a variety of Cladonia pyxidata. Contrary to the description in Likenoj de Okcidenta Europa podetia can be numerous, at least, in the Pyrenees.
