Descripción: | Picture taken on the 8th December 2007 at Coll de Sant Marçal, near Sant Marçal Ermitage, Montseny, among mosses, siliceous rocks, granite, 1.100 m. altitude aprox. Very common in Catalonia, mainly on decaying wood, among mosses. Fruticose lichen with very wide distribution, Primary thallus formed by squamules, basal squamules persistent, irregularly lobed, crenulate margins, without soredia, up to 5 mm long, not adpressed to the soil. Podetia frequent, scyphus wide, regular, up to 8 mm diameter, covered by granuliform soredia. Apothecia uncommon, brown Thallus K-, P+ red, C-, KC-. No crystallization by extraction made with acetone and GA (glycerol,ethanol, waer). Fumarprotoceratic acid by TLC Analysis. It is necessary to do TLC analysis to be sure about the determination. But the rest of species of the group pyxidata appear in very special habitats. See acids in Clauzade and Roux, Liquenoj de Okcidenta Europo. For the study of the group Cladonia see works of A.R.
