Picture taken at "Els Estanyols", Pyrenees 2000, near Font-romeu, Oriental Pyrenees, France, on siliceous rock, granite, aquatic lichen, growing close to a temporary lake formed periodically by the melting of the snow, 1.500 m. altitude..
Crustose lichen, gelatinous, green to black-green, smooth or cracked, with very evident black prothallus. Perithecia immersed, black ostioles, very small appearing at the surface.
Very similar in appearance to V. mucosa that is a maritime lichen.
It grows normally with Verrucaria rheitrophila (Verrucarietum funckii).
It has been mentioned already at Cerdanya by Dra. Iris Anita Pereira Riquelme.
