Descripción: | Picture taken on the Third May 2008 near Sant Jaume ermitage, Serra d'Almenara, Almenara Alta, LLeida, on gypsicolous soil, sunny place, with Toninia sedifolia, Psora decipiens and Fulgensia sp. in the same picture. It is very difficult to determine at field Fulgensia species on gypsum, the microscope must be used. It is possible to find in gypsicolous soil, Fulgensia desertorum, Fulgensia poelti, Fulgensia fulgens, Fulgensia bracteata and Fulgensia subbracteata. Key to species of Fulgensia following Brodo (pag. 319): 1. Spores 2-celled ... Fulgensia desertorum 1. Spores 1-celled...........2 2. Thallus areolate, not noticeably lobed at the margin; schizidia often present ... Fulgensia bracteata. 2. Thallus clearly lobed at the margin: schizidia present or absent ....... 3 3. Lobes long and slightly ascending at the tips; schizidia absent....Fulgensia fulgens 3. Lobes short, entirely adnate; schizidia abundant on thallus surface.... Fulgensia subbracteata. We have to add Fulgensia poelti created by Dr. Xavier Llimona in 1973. Espores without septum, 1-celled, equatorial constriction and lobed thallus. Acarospora nodulosa has a crustose white thallus, areolate, with pruina. Apothecia prominent and with brown colour. See Wirth et alter (2004) Guía de campo de los líquenes, musgos y hepáticas, Edit. Omega, pag 182. Acarosporetum placodiforme-reagentis Nikon Coolpix 4.500 Armand Tomás Vidal |
