Lecidia insidiosa is a parasitic lichen exclusively on Lecanora varia. Following Poelt &quot; it kills the plectenchyma of the host, but presumably takes over part of the host-algae to build its own thallus, first inside, then outside of the host thallus.&quot;

The apothecia disc of Lecanora varia appears of black colour due to the parasitic lichen.
