    <description><![CDATA[Picture taken on the 16th February 2008 at Coll de Pam, Fontromeu, Alta Cerdanya, Catalogne Nord, France, on a vertical face of a granite boulder, nitrophilous place close the sky station, 1.900 m. altitude. 

Crustose thallus, on siliceous rocks, thick, warty, areolate, very variable in colour, from almost white-grey to brown, very variable in form. Large apothecia (0,6-1,5 mm), with wide persistant thalline borders, disc from brown to black, flat. It has larger apothecia than Rinodina atrocinerea growing sometimes on the granite. boulders at altitude.

See the effects of water and snow on the discs, sometime with paler colour.
