Carbonea supersparsa is a lichen new for Catalonia, to be included in the Biodiversity Data Base of Catalonia. It is already mentioned in the Lichen check list of Castilia and the Canary Islands. It is a group of lichens parasite of specific lichens too. Carbonea vitellina grows on Candelariella vitellina, Carbonea atronivea on Lecidella sp and Carbonea supersparsa generally on Lecanora polytropa. They live immersed in the guest thallus, lecidein apothecia, black, shiny.
Lecanora polytropa is a common lichen found in windy places all around Europe, In Catalonia it has been mentioned at Vall d'Aran, Cerdanya, Montseny, Massís de Cadiretes, always on siliceous rocks.
Thallus yellow-brownish, apothecia numerous, they become convexe and lose their thalline margins with age. The present species is the v. alpigena due to the big apothecia and the almost invisible thallus, apothecia in this case can be scattered (following Wirth).
