Ionaspis lacustris and Verrucaria aethiobola ?
Image Details
Descripción:
Picture taken on the third of March 2007, close to a river, Sot dels Arços, near Hotel Avet Blau, Santa Fe Montseny, Barcelona, 1.300 m. altitude, in a very humid location, probably inundated from time to time among mosses.
Ionaspis lacustris is a water-loving lichen, found in circumpolar region. It is very rare in Catalonia and it has been only mentioned by Pereira at Vall d'Aran.
The current finding is very interesting because it appears at Montseny mountain and in association with Verrucaria aethiobola ?, the latter has been already metioned by Pereira & Llimona in a study on hydrophilous lichens from Montseny.
See picture 74 in Dra. Eva Barrero book on the lichens of Muniellos (Asturias), forming the same association.
Crustose lichen, thallus flat, variable in colour from green to brown. Small apothecia immersed, concave disc, pink, orange (in the present case) or even brown.
