Pseudocyphellaria aurata ? new for Catalonia and Languedoc-Roussillon
Image Details
Descripción:
Picture taken on the 8th April 2007 near Bains de Llo, Oriental Pyrenees, France, on bark of a decideous tree, extremely humid place, close the river Segre, warm waters in the vicinity that create like an atlantic microclimate, 1.700 m. altitude.
Lichen epiphytal , ombrophilous, special microclimate. Mentioned for the first time in Languedoc-Roussillon. Normaly an atlantic ocean temperate lichen, extremely rare where it has been found. Probably the only explanation is a wrong determination or the thermal waters of Bains de Llo.
Very good illustration on pag 91 V. Calatayud (2000) Guía de líquenes epífitos.
Foliose lichen, large, rosette forming, with very bright green colour when wet. Down side with pseudocyphella.
This species needs further studies, the determination has to be considered as provisional and even doubtful. Other Pseudocyphellaria have to be compared for a definitive and completely sure determination and even it could be a rare form of Hypocenomyce scalaris or another genus.
