Descripción: | Picture taken on the 1st July 2007 at Aiguablava, Girona, Catalonia, on siliceous rock, vertical position, South oriented, 20 m altitude, close the sea. A common lichen close the sea border. It does not seem an homogenous lichen and probably at leat two species are under the same umbrella. This one looks like the unaccepted "Caloplaca maritima" (See description in Frank Dobson book). Crustose lichen, very related to the sea shore , thallus from yellow to orange (if more yellow Caloplaca maritima ?), numerous lecanorine apothecia. Amateur naturalists need urgently revised simplified determination keys based on recent genetic studies. If Ester Gaya reads this humble page, please, we are waiting for updated keys a.s.a.p.
